Also includes drug information from Davis’s Drug Guide for Nurses, AHFS Drug Information Essentials, and CINAHL Nursing Guide. Plus videos, images, and patient education materials.

Trial access to DynaMed Plus until 9/22/2015!

Health care faculty and students - we have trial access to DynaMed Plus until 9/22/2015

It provides evidence based summaries for health care providers, labelled according to level of evidence. Over 3,200 topics include specialty content such as critical care, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, and sports medicine. Based on cover to cover review of top sources, surveillance of high profile guideline organizations, and targeted MEDLINE searches. Interactive clinical calculators can be browsed by specialty (anesthesia, nursing, nutrition) or by function (clinical criteria, decision trees). Database is updated daily. Patrons at subscribing institutions may activate the freely included DynaMed mobile app for Apple iOS devices and Android devices.

Moving from Web of Science to Scopus

 We're moving from Web of Science (subscription expires June 30th) to  Scopus (should have access in a week).

Scopus indexes twice as many titles as Web of Science, and includes over 99% of the titles that are indexed by the Web of Science.

Journal Citation Reports will expire with Web of Science, but many faculty currently use Google Scholar and Eigenfactor for citation analysis.

We plan to create a research guide for assistance with these sources.  We also plan to create a guide to Scopus and will offer training as needed.

More online films available through DocuSeek2!

 The library has licensed online films from Docuseek2. 

This collection includes content from Bullfrog Films, Collective Eye Films, Icarus Films (including The Fanlight Collection and dGenerate Films), Kartemquin Films, Sincerely Films, Terra Nova Films and Villon Films

Links to individual films will soon be added to the library catalog.  Before then, UNCG faculty and students can access films from the library home page by choosing Databases, then navigating to the Docuseek2 database.  And yes, faculty can post links in Blackboard!

We have three years of access. The first year, we will have access to 340 films.  Year 2 and 3, we will have access to 174 titles.

Free Access and Demo for UpToDate clinical information

UNCG has been offered free access to UpToDate, a bedside/point of care information database with clinical care summaries for thousands of diseases, drug interactions, and more, until 4/31/2013.

UNCG faculty and students can access UpToDate online through this link. The path to this link from the library home page is Databases/U/UpToDate. If you're off-campus, use your iSpartan account to log in.

FYI, this is free "trial" access.  There is no funding to pay for a subscription to UpToDate.  But for what it's worth, I hope that our clinical faculty and students enjoy free playtime with this resource.  If anyone has any questions or comments, just let me know.
