Faculty and graduate students often require external funding for research, scholarship, and creative activity. This workshop will explore how to get the most from grant seeking databases, including SPIN, GrantSelect, Grant Advisor Plus, and the Foundation Center. Participants learn to search for possible funding opportunities, practice identifying eligibility, and realize the importance of key words.  Attendees will have opportunities to access databases and engage in searches related to their topic of interest. Presented by the Office of Sponsored Programs and University Libraries.

ILL, document delivery, campus book delivery

Hi all,

Interlibrary Loan and other delivery services are currently unavailable due to a technical problem with the system and also due to the unexpected loss of a staff member.

The problems have been reported and these services should resume soon.

As part of ongoing work to maintain and advance our systems, we will perform a disaster recovery exercise on 5-6 August that will require system downtime.

No library e-resources from 7 am-9 am on Weds 8/2

Hi all,

I just got this message from IT staff:  the libraries' proxy server will be upgraded tomorrow morning from 7 am - 9 am.

Library e-resources (like e-books, article databases, etc.) will not be accessible while this server is down.  IT staff will do their best to bring the system back online quickly.

Zotero 5.0 replacing Zotero for Firefox

Those who’ve been using Zotero since its early days probably remember Zotero as an add-on that lived exclusively within the Firefox browser. There was no separate application–it was just Zotero and Firefox, living together harmoniously. Well, time and change have brought with them new browsers, new browser architecture, and, inevitably, Zotero Standalone, which was compatible with most browsers, not just Firefox. For reasons outside of Zotero’s control, Zotero for Firefox is being discontinued and all Zotero for Firefox users will be prompted to install Zotero 5.0, which is identical in almost every way to Zotero Standalone (4.0). Read more about these changes on the Zotero blog. It’s understandable that this shift might be somewhat scary for Zotero for Firefox users. But don’t worry–Zotero still works just fine with Firefox through its browser connector, and the Zotero team has been working diligently to ensure that you will not experience any data loss as you transition.
